Over the years on The Bold and the Beautiful, Brooke has worn countless hats. She’s been a chemist, editor, model, designer, CEO, mother, wife and muse — practically every role imaginable. And given her recent attempt to reclaim the CEO position, it’s obvious that Brooke has no intention of stepping aside anytime soon.
Katherine Kelly Lang has accomplished just about everything daytime television has to offer, but she is now taking on a new project in Italy. In the film La Mia Storia Con Te, she portrays a successful producer. The character is a woman firmly in command of her life, yet she still wrestles with uncertainty and self-doubt. While this is not Lang’s first Italian production, the role appears to have resonated with her in a special way.
Speaking with Popp Dapp News, Lang offered a glimpse into the character, explaining that she is “intelligent, determined, and resilient, but she also carries doubts, fears, and emotional wounds. I wanted to honor that complexity.”
As for why characters such as Brooke have continued to connect with audiences for decades, Lang believes it comes down to portraying figures who feel “timeless.” According to the actress, they feel “real, regardless of the time period or circumstances. Whether she is strong or vulnerable, successful or struggling, people want to see someone they recognize in themselves. Resilience is certainly part of that, but so is imperfection.”
To be fair, Brooke embodies both qualities in abundance. She has been knocked down more times than anyone could count, yet she always finds a way to get back on her feet. And when it comes to imperfections, there is certainly no shortage of examples. Stephanie probably would have enjoyed listing them all, but viewers know Brooke has her blind spots and moments of jealousy. Cough Ridge, Katie Cough
Even with those similarities, however, this new role is not Brooke. Instead, Lang says she is attracted to projects that celebrate “strong women while allowing them to be imperfect, vulnerable, and authentic.”
That perspective makes perfect sense, especially considering she has spent more than forty years bringing exactly those kinds of women to life.
